There's a funny thing about TARDISes -- or, at least, this specific TARDIS, who has lived through a Time War and seen the end of the greatest race to ever exist. Her brothers and sisters weren't much different, but this one TARDIS, she took this funny fact to new heights.

Because, as I'll explain, TARDISes? Are very jealous, very vindictive, very cruel creatures sometimes, and this TARDIS -- the Doctor's TARDIS -- was particularly so. She had to be, because her pilot was an idiot. A wonderful, brilliant, incredibly loved idiot, but an idiot nonetheless. And on occasion, he needed reminding of just how big an idiot he was.

Like now. (Contains minor spoilers for the three-minute End of Time clip from Children in Need )

[[info]oncoming_storms] - The Things That Matter
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter. - Martin Luther King

Where are you going?

When will you be back?

Do you not want to stay?

Why are you acting this way?

Are you well?

What is taking so long?

What changed you?

Will I ever see you again…?

She stopped asking after the first fifty years, when each question was met with angry retorts or, worse, silence. She stopped asking when it became apparent asking was pointless. She didn’t stop caring, of course, but the words and the reasons didn’t correlate anymore.

So instead of asking, she simply talked – and remembered. )

[[info]oncoming_storms] - Lyric Prompt - 42
There were ghosts in the hallways.

She could hear them whispering as she made her way toward her room, each breathy puff of air caressing her cheek or brushing intimately against her hand. She frowned thoughtfully, pausing long enough to listen, attempting to catch a word here or a phrase there, but they never did more than breathe.

It was always like this, though it had taken some time to grow accustomed to. When one was as old as this ship, there had to be lingering thoughts and emotions. She'd first passed it off as her imagination taking root among a place that could only exist in dreams, but after a year of walking these halls, she now simply tried to hear them and understand where they came from.

Another breath whispered across her skin and she shivered. )

Sorry for disappearing on everyone. I was a mite MIA over the weekend since I had a guest and then went to a kickin' divorce party for a friend. I'm still gonna be mostly gone until Friday, so I figured I'd be nice this time and give a heads up.

If anyone has anything they want me to read or a thread or post they want me to tag, please leave a link here! I'll have time throughout the week to sneak on a bit, but my browsing will probably be hindered and I don't want to miss an awesome story or post.

You guys keep rockin'! And I promise I'll get back to that writing meme [info]ambitious_woman started orz. I haven't forgotten it, promise!

What do you see, when you're running away? My walls, perhaps, or wide red fields beneath silver leaves? A London street, maybe? Can you even tell the difference? Where are you now, Doctor, as you scramble away from the one thing in all the universe you claim to love the most? Hmm? I rather think it doesn't matter, does it. No matter where you are, you can't tell me what it is, can you? It changes every moment. Changes because you want it to change -- because you aren't happy with what you have, because you need so much more than you're given. You make it up as you go along to suit your own petty desires, thinking how you can fix it afterward. It's what you do, after all, isn't it: fix things?

But if what you break is real, how can you fix it in your own imaginary world? Do you even know where fiction ends and reality begins anymore, Doctor?

On pain of death not really ... okay maybe really, I post this. *eyes MJ* I really like music though, soooo

Warning: By posting this up you are subjecting yourself to other peoples tastes in music. First rule of Play List is do not get offended by the music people share with you. Your cup of tea is could be someone else's leafy water.
Warning: By posting this up should be willing to seek out the same meme on your friends list and give them some music too!

01. How it works: Place this post up in your journal.
02. Fellow friends list members [and their writers too] are to then in turn comment to your post with music.
03. Said music is shared via an upload that you can download, or a link to lyrics for the connection challenged that reminds them of you.
04. When you comment leave the song title and artist in the subject line so that if someone else thought of the same song they don't have to send it to you again, ;)
05. With enough people and enough variety of songs you should end up with a lovely playlist inspired by those that know you pretty well. [or so you hope]
06. Download and enjoy!

[[info]oncoming_storms] - Oi, stop that this instant!
As it turns out, the best place to recuperate after facing down a horde of Zerugian Fire Beasts bent on your destruction is the secondary lot of a car dealership. Strange, but true! The thing about car dealerships is that an immense amount of vehicles come and go, and many (particularly the shady second-hand dealers) litter their business with odds and ends to draw attention to themselves. So a blue police box circa the Earth’s 1960s suddenly appearing in the secondary lot of one of these businesses didn’t amount to much hubbub and barely caused a lash to bat.

Which was good, because the spatial dampeners that usually made this blue police box almost unnoticeable to a great many people was currently on the fritz. It had, after all, just been through a rather epic mid-space fight with the aforementioned Zerugian Fire Beasts bent on its destruction.

Which, of course, was all the fault of the man who peeked his head out the front door to get the lay of the land.

“There, see?” he said to no one in particular, patting the exterior of the box as he drew in a long draught of fresh air. “Perfect landing! I told you there was nothing to worry about!”

The police box looked nonplussed. )

"No, stop that. You can't have that."

"But Daddyyyyyyyyy. Daddy, I want it! Mum would let me have iiiiiiiiiiiiit."

"I'm not your mum, so no."

"DADDY THAT ISN'T FAIR! I WANT IT I WANT IT!"

"I said no!"

The little girl began sobbing and throwing her arms and legs about in a fit of petulant anger. Her face was a horrific shade of red and her cries echoed along the small, rock-covered stretch of beach on which she'd stopped to admire some sea creature or another, which had long since scurried off in terror at her ear-splitting shouting.

If only the Doctor could do the same.

"Oi! Stop crying!" The Doctor huffed, about ripping out his hair in frustration at the child who looked too much like her mother and acted too little like her father. "I all ready said--"

"What's this then?"

The Doctor looked up to see Rose come jogging up the beach, lips pouted angrily at the sight of her sobbing daughter in the sand. The little girl perked up immediately upon hearing her mother's voice and went right into a fresh series of wailing.

"Muuuummyyyyyyyyyy," she sobbed, holding up her chubby arms for Rose to lift her. "Daddy won't let me keep the craaaaaaab."

"Well, that seems daft," Rose replied, giving the Doctor a questioning look. "Don't see why you can't take one home."

"Because I told her she can't."

"Why?"

The Doctor decided he wasn't going to have much hair left very soon and couldn't decide what made him more upset: the lack of his lustrous 'do or being in a two-against-one argument that he had no chance of winning.

He opened his mouth to reply when a familiar noise cut through the atmosphere. Both the Doctor and Rose snapped their heads 'round as the air ripped apart, a large, blue box warping in and out of space until it nestled, finally silent, in the sand.

Without a word, the Doctor booked it for the TARDIS, which opened its doors easily at his touch. He whooped and looked back to see Rose trying to get to them, daughter in tow, and for a moment felt a pang of guilt before the doors suddenly closed, blocking his family from view.

Welcome home, came a sing-song voice in his mind, a cool touch of air against his skin, and he smiled.

"Yeah. Welcome home."

So, I know everyone feels like they need more feedback. So... let's give some. What do you like about my pup? What do you think could be improved? What things about them do you not understand that you'd like elaborated on?

To add to that, is there anything you feel I should be doing that I'm not, or any particular direction you'd like to see me go in? Is there something I've been woefully neglecting that needs remedied?
